MechoSystems Honored with Two Nightingale Awards at Healthcare Design Expo + Conference
ElectroPocket® receives awards for Innovation and Product Category
LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y., Dec. 5, 2017 – MechoSystems, the world’s foremost provider of WindowManagement® solutions and effective roller shade systems, captured two more awards for its innovative and technological advances at the Healthcare Design Expo + Conference at Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. (Nov. 10-11).
“We’re ecstatic that the healthcare design community continues to recognize the innovative products we provide with our roller shade systems that bring intrinsic value to patient rooms,” said said MechoSystems President Jan Berman. “We have a deep commitment and history in providing the best shading products to the architectural and design communities.”
MechoSystems ElectroPocket® won the Nightingale Innovation award for Products that Contribute to Healing and also received a Silver award in the Window Shading & Treatments category. The Nightingale Awards are sponsored by The Center for Health Design, Contract and Healthcare Design magazines, and the HCD Expo & Conference.
The ElectroPocket® is an expansion of existing metal pocket (models) for roller shades that have been offered by many for the installation and concealment of shade roll, brackets, and the motor. Now, the placement of electrical components including cables, splitters, and the Wireless Controller is simplified, managed, secured, and easily installed.
The pocket includes a raceway to secure wiring and components, thereby keeping them away from the moving parts of a shade. The metal box is installed above the ceiling line providing for an unobstructed view to the outside and maximizing window height in a patient space, office or conference room. Besides a standard totally closed pocket, an acoustical/sound reduction type and a ventilated pocket version are also offered.
ElectroPocket is shipped in a two-piece nested configuration intended for easy assembly in the field. This shipping arrangement saves space during shipping and reduces cardboard waste. For more information, visit http://mechoshade.com/accessories/electropocket.php
Many designers today are concerned about adequate daylight in the built environment, from schools to offices to Healthcare facilities. Research shows that rooms with a view can lessen patients’ pain and stress, and healthcare costs are frequently used to validate having hospital rooms (or any space) with views to the outside. Installing shades in pocket can offer an additional 6-12 inches of window space, which enables daylight to penetrate deeper into the patient room or lounge space. ElectroPocket maintains a clean ceiling line, keeps all wires hidden and is easy for the contractor to install.
The tie-in of a motorized shade to automation or a patient controller (pillow switch) or to a nurse override system frees valuable staff time otherwise used for raising and lowering of shades. Patient operation of shades increases the patients’ feelings of empowerment and increases their feeling of independence.
There were 45 Best in Nightingale entries with 14 categories and 25 winners.
