National Office Furniture Receives Beacon Award from Kentucky Excellence in Environmental Leadership Program
JASPER, Ind., March 7, 2018 – National Office Furniture, a unit of Kimball International, Inc., has been recognized by the Kentucky Excellence in Environmental Leadership (KY EXCEL) program for their continued dedication to environmental protection within their Danville, Kentucky, facility. National’s Danville, Kentucky, facility was awarded the KY EXCEL Beacon Award in the Performance Improvement category for their noteworthy 20% absolute emission reduction in VOCs for 2016. The Kentucky Division of Compliance Assistance awarded National with this honor for their exemplary achievements in the reduction of air pollution.
The KY EXCEL program is a voluntary program that is open to any individual, organization, community, or business that wishes to improve and protect Kentucky’s environment in ways that extend beyond Kentucky’s environmental requirements. National is one of only thirty manufacturers in Kentucky that have chosen to participate in this voluntary program designed to further their commitment to protecting Kentucky’s resources. Both of National’s Kentucky based facilities (located in Danville and Fordsville) are involved with this program.

In addition to this accomplishment and to further demonstrate Danville’s dedication to enhancing the quality of Kentucky’s environment and communities, the Danville Environmental Management System is certified to ISO 14001:2015 standards. The internationally acknowledged ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification recognizes companies that have adopted environmentally responsible practices in their business processes. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) created ISO 14001 as an internationally agreed upon standard that sets out the requirements for an environmental management system. ISO 14001 helps organizations improve their environmental performance through more efficient use of resources and reduction of waste. Certified entities must demonstrate continuous improvement in their systems and their approach to environmental impacts to maintain their ISO certification.
