Ms. English has over 27 years of healthcare design experience with a design and management background in acute care, senior living, outpatient services, healthcare research, wayfinding, art, and furnishings.  Six years ago, she joined the Planning and Design team for UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.  Prior experiences include many years in design studios, managing multi-state territories for leading healthcare furniture manufacturers, and managing the interior design of the new Parkland Hospital Campus in Dallas, Texas. Her experience has also given her the opportunity to present and co-author many research papers.  She continues her passion for service to the healthcare environment, overseeing Campus Master Planning, programming, interiors, wayfinding, and design standards as Director of Planning and Design for UT Southwestern Medical Center.  Gena has a Master's in Healthcare administration, a Bachelor in Organizational Management, and a degree in Interior Design, and is a Registered Interior Designer in the State of Texas. She is also certified by the American Academy of Healthcare Interior Designer (AAHID) and served on the board from 2001 - 2013. Other certifications include EDAC, and she is a Registered Accessibility Specialist.
